The part needs to match the installation
A repair should account for the existing pipe material, size, system pressure and operating temperature. An older installation may contain several materials or previous partial repairs. Choosing a component by appearance or brand alone does not establish that it is right for the job. The actual application and product requirements matter.
Understand product approval correctly
WRAS approval relates to the listed plumbing product or material and its conditions. It is not an accreditation for an entire plumbing company. Leak Seaker uses quality suitable water-supply fittings, with other components selected for their intended system. A heating item and a drinking-water supply fitting may have different suitability considerations.
Installation quality completes the component choice
A suitable fitting still needs appropriate preparation, connection and support. The repair method should account for the condition and arrangement of the surrounding pipework. If the investigation reveals another unrelated weakness or a wider replacement requirement, that should be explained and separately scoped rather than hidden within an assumed quick joint repair.
Test the relevant work and explain the result
Appropriate post-repair checks help assess the repaired section under suitable conditions. The engineer explains the outcome and records relevant findings. This is evidence about the work completed, not a guarantee that every unrelated part of an existing installation can never fail.
Keep the report and warranty information
The £1,750 agreed residential package includes the repair parts, materials, testing and Written Trace & Access report. A one-year workmanship warranty covers all work we carry out within that scope. Retain the written terms and raise a concern promptly if you suspect an issue with the work, so it can be assessed against the job record.
