Understand the problem
Finding the source is only part of resolving a leak. A detection-only visit can leave you arranging access, another trade, materials and the final record. Our agreed residential package includes the investigation, necessary access, plumbing repair, appropriate tests and Written Trace & Access report.
One agreed scope, from first clues to checked repair
Once the evidence supports a source, we explain the access required and the effect on surrounding finishes. Suitable parts are selected for the pipe and application, including suitable water-supply fittings. After the plumbing repair, appropriate checks assess the result. The report brings the findings and work together, and our workmanship is covered for one year.
Signs that make an investigation worthwhile
- A concealed leak that needs both finding and fixing
- A leak located but not yet accessed or repaired
- A damaged pipe below a wall or floor finish
- A homeowner wanting a clear agreed residential price
How we investigate
We choose methods around the question we need to answer, the system and the access available. Your job may require a combination of tests; every tool is not necessary on every visit.
Pressure testing
A controlled pressure test helps assess whether a suitable section of pipework holds pressure under the chosen test conditions. It is an important way to narrow an investigation before locating the escape.
How this method worksTracer-gas leak detection
A suitable specialist tracer-gas test can help locate an escape from an isolated pipe section. A sensitive detector is used to investigate where the gas emerges above or around the suspected route.
What this method can establishFrom evidence to access and repair
Once the findings support a source area, we explain the necessary opening or excavation and the implications for the surrounding finish. Access is agreed before the plumbing is exposed for confirmation and repair. Suitable parts and materials are chosen for the system, including suitable water-supply fittings.
Appropriate checks follow the repair. The Written Trace & Access report records the relevant findings and work, with supporting photographs where appropriate. All work we carry out within the agreed scope has a one-year workmanship warranty.
