Keep away from immediate hazards
Avoid wet electrical equipment, fittings and switches, and keep clear of bulging ceilings. If there is an immediate danger, use the appropriate emergency assistance. A website enquiry should not be relied on as an emergency dispatch service.
Limit water only where it is safe
If you know the relevant stop valve and can safely operate it, isolating the supply may reduce the escape. Do not enter unsafe spaces or operate unfamiliar communal valves. In shared buildings, contact the responsible occupier or manager so isolation can be coordinated.
Document without delaying urgent action
Take photographs only where safe and note the time and symptoms. Keep records of who attended and what was done. Contact your insurer as soon as practical to ask about its process, especially if opening or emergency mitigation is required.
Arrange the source investigation
Once immediate hazards are managed, a hidden source may need specialist detection. Provide the postcode, affected area, isolation status and previous findings. Attendance and scope are confirmed for the job; an enquiry alone is not a confirmed appointment.
