Separate the stain from its cause
Paint and plaster show the effect of moisture but do not identify its origin. A recurring mark may relate to plumbing, rain entry, condensation or moisture still held in materials. The useful question is what changes the pattern and whether the source has actually been established, rather than which product last covered the stain.
Explain what happened after each repair
If an earlier intervention changed the symptoms, record how and for how long. Did the patch dry fully, did pressure hold or did water use change? Previous reports and photographs help the next investigation understand what was tested. A short improvement does not on its own prove the entire problem was resolved.
Compare timing with use and weather
Note whether the patch grows after heating, bathing, ordinary water use or rainfall. These observations help test different explanations. They are not a reason to deliberately recreate a damaging leak. A careful record of normal conditions can be enough to guide which system or pathway needs attention.
Read moisture results in context
A moisture meter can help map the pattern across affected and surrounding materials. A high reading alone does not prove a leaking pipe. The material, building arrangement and suitable plumbing tests should be considered together. If the evidence points away from plumbing, the report should explain the need for the appropriate building specialist.
Finish after the source and remaining moisture are understood
A plumbing repair can stop an escape without instantly drying every floor or wall layer. Drying and reinstatement need an appropriate separate plan. Leak Seaker records the relevant source findings and agreed plumbing work, helping the homeowner avoid treating the visible surface as the whole problem.
